Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
