Cars in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were notified by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then found many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
